Emma is a forensic fire and explosion investigator with experience conducting domestic, commercial and industrial fire investigations on behalf of insurers, loss adjusters and commercial clients throughout the UK. She has experience in origin and cause determination through detailed scene examination, fire pattern analysis, evidence assessment and technical reporting.
Prior to joining Halliwell Forensics in 2026, Emma worked as a Fire and Explosion Investigator with Burgoynes, managing investigations independently from scene attendance through to final reporting.
Before transitioning into forensic fire investigation, Emma was Technical & Reporting Manager at Forensic Testing Service Ltd, where she led a team of reporting scientists and authored technical reports concerning drug and alcohol misuse for use in Family Court proceedings. During this time, she developed extensive experience in the interpretation and presentation of complex scientific data and evidence-based reporting.
Emma holds a Master of Science degree in Forensic Science from the University of Huddersfield and a PhD in Analytical Chemistry from Sheffield Hallam University, where she published research in peer-reviewed journals and supervised undergraduate research projects. She is a Member of the Royal Society of Chemistry and has presented research findings at national and international conferences.
